Town Park. Historic Old Town Suwanee offers
additional shops and a red caboose on which
children enjoy playing. Suwanee is well-known
in the region for its crowd-pleasing events and
high-quality mixed-use developments.
Through its award-winning open space initiative,
Suwanee has taken "play" to a whole new level.
In 2002, Suwanee had 28 acres of City-owned
parkland. Today, thanks to a bond-funded open

space initiative, Suwanee has about 300 acres
of open space, including four new parks. In
addition to the parks, Suwanee constructed a
four-mile multipurpose trail. The Suwanee Creek
Greenway is enormously popular with walkers,
joggers, and bikers who want to see Suwanee's
"wild" side.
Suwanee offers a variety of housing options that
fit an array of lifestyles. Homebuyers relocating
|
|
from other parts of the country are often
surprised by how far their housing dollar can
stretch in Suwanee. Many newer neighborhoods
are part of planned mixed-use developments
featuring traditional neighborhood designs
combined with multi-family and single-family
homes, townhomes and condos.
Most of the communities built in the 1990's
are conventional subdivisions with moderate
to luxury homes or townhomes and traditional

amenity packages. Suwanee is also fortunate
to have many historic structures, including
several grand Victorian and regional farm-style
homes. Despite the current economic downturn,
Suwanee remains a vibrant, healthy community.
Suwanee is a growing community and home to
several progressive, high-tech national firms—
including Hewlett-Packard, Dish Network, Echo
Star and Mitsubishi Electric. The future looks

bright for the City and the Suwanee Gateway
initiative, where the framework and first two
phases of a 148-acre, multi-use development
have already been completed.
Settle in Suwanee and enjoy the best in small-
town living combined with the convenience of
big-city access and well-managed growth. While
Suwanee's housing, population and businesses
have grown exponentially over the past 20 years,
City officials have worked diligently to protect
and enhance the natural environment and historic
areas, ensure that commercial development
reflects their "small-town-America" vision, and
preserve the friendly atmosphere that makes
Suwanee a great place to live, work and do
business.
